Happy National Cookie Day! I had no idea this was even a holiday, but I’m not complaining about a day to celebrate cookies! In honor of this wonderful occasion, I’m sharing my all time favorite snickerdoodles recipe.
Perfect for a cozy fall or winter night in, this recipe makes the softest and chewiest snickerdoodles ever. I’ve made them for my coworkers, friends, and family, and it’s always been a hit. Have a holiday cookie swap coming up? Bring these and I promise you they’ll be a crowd pleaser!

Snickerdoodles
Ingredients
Cookies
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 ⅔ cup flour
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
Cinnamon Sugar Coating
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tbsp sugar
Instructions
- Cream the butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla.
- Whisk together all the dry ingredients (flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt), then add into the wet ingredients.
- Use an ice cream scooper to shape the dough into 1 inch balls.
- Mix the sugar and cinnamon for the coating and roll the dough balls in the mixture until they are well coated.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes at 400°.
