One of the most iconic things to do in New York is walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. Whether it’s a romantic stroll with a loved one, a tourist photo opp, or an early morning run, there’s no better place to take in the New York skyline.
To beat the tourists and crowds, my fellow blogger friend Brittney and I decided to wake up at sunrise and do an early shoot. Although I was a bit reluctant to get up so early on a Saturday, the lighting was absolutely perfect and made it all worth it.
Starting from Lower Manhattan (City Hall is the closest subway stop to the bridge entrance) we made our way across the bridge to DUMBO.
It was a bit chilly out so for the occasion I wore my favorite winter coat, this blueish gray wool coat from Reiss. I love the hue and cut, and the coat totally gives me Kate Middleton vibes! The blue color also blends in so beautifully with the sky’s reflection on the buildings. I got mine on sale from the outlet so it’s from a few seasons back, but there’s a very similar one on sale here.
Once we made it across the bridge, we walked to Brooklyn Bridge Park and explored the waterfront — the view of Manhattan from DUMBO is just incredible. I love the sassiness of this leopard faux fur coat paired with these black cat eye sunglasses!
Jane’s Carousel was also super cute, but once they opened up the doors, there was a HUGE crowd of children scrambling to get onto the rides, and I was not about fighting with children, ha! I’ll have to come back here and shoot again because it’s so beautiful, especially with Pebble Beach as its backdrop.
Despite having lived in NYC for almost half a year now, I have yet to really explore Brooklyn. Can’t wait to come back and try all the food and hipster things! 😉
